DREW FARLEY - OWNER/BAKER/DESIGNER
I’m Drew Farley, a chef and artist based in Orange, on Wiradjuri Country.
My background in fine dining and the arts shapes the way I approach cakes: as both craft and expression.
For me, cake making is an art form. I work with structure, balance, and abstraction much like I would with sculpture or painting, creating pieces that are modern, intentional, and quietly expressive. Flavour is just as important as form. My training as a chef in classical French and Italian patisserie instilled in me a respect for technique, restraint, and balance, and this continues to guide my work today. I build each cake with layers that are considered in both texture and taste, balancing familiar notes elevated by something unexpected.
I don’t see my cakes as decorations, but as living works, meant to be shared, savoured slowly, and remembered long after the last slice. Every detail, from the textures of the exterior to the nuances of flavour inside, is considered and deliberate.
Along the way, my work has been recognised within the wedding industry, including national awards. I’ve been honoured to be named among Australia’s best wedding cake designers, with features in leading publications and showcases that celebrate modern makers. While recognition is affirming, it is never the goal. The heart of my work lies in creating cakes that carry meaning.
Each piece I create is designed to evoke feeling; joy, nostalgia, connection; and to stand as part of the story it was made to celebrate.
